Kim Martinez

Kim Martinez is the Senior Director for K-12 Education at the National Wildlife Federation located in Reston, Virginia. She is the National Operator for Eco-Schools USA and oversees the development and delivery of Eco-Schools and Schoolyard Habitat programs in more than 10,000 schools nationally. Kim is an advisor for the North American Association for Environmental Education, serving as a 360ee advisor and co-author of the Excellence in Environmental Education: Guidelines for Learning (K-12). She also sits on the advisory committee for the U.S. Green Building Council’s National Green Schools Conference.
In the U.S., Kim is considered an expert in Green STEM, a concept which encourages teachers to use the environment to teach science, technology, engineering and math, and Global Project-Based Learning. Kim has been invited to present on these topics in South Africa, France, and Malta.
Before coming to NWF, Kim was Administrator of Professional Development for programs in the Center for Teacher Innovation at the Riverside County Office of Education in California. Additionally, she was an instructor in the School of Education at the University of California, Riverside. Prior to becoming a program administrator, Kim taught Kindergarten through grade 6 for ten years.
